Ohishi 11 Year Old Mizunara Cask Finish Japanese Whisky comes from Ohishi Distillery in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, where whisky is made from rice fermented with koji and distilled in the regional tradition. This release is aged eleven years and finished in casks of mizunara, the rare Japanese oak prized for its sandalwood and incense character, then bottled at 42% ABV.The nose is rich and intense with sandalwood, coconut and vanilla and a hint of smoke. The palate is smooth and velvety, with honey, dried fruit and a subtle spiciness, and the finish is long and lingering with a touch of sweetness. The silky rice spirit is an ideal canvas for mizunara's aromatic wood. This 750ml bottle is a distinctive, age-stated mizunara whisky at a fair price.
