Built for cross-country, gravel and mixed-terrain riding, the Specialized Recon 3.0 combines efficient power transfer with the traction and flexibility needed when the ride takes you off the bike.
A carbon outsole and Specialized's Carbon STRIDE toe-flex technology deliver a stiffness index of 10.0 while allowing more natural forefoot movement during hike-a-bike sections and off-bike walking.
Carbon STRIDE Performance
The Recon 3.0 pairs a carbon outsole with a glass-fiber forefoot to balance pedaling stiffness with improved toe flexibility.
Specialized's Body Geometry sole and footbed are designed to support efficient alignment through the hip, knee and foot, while the fully welded upper reduces seams for a comfortable fit.
The shoe has a stiffness index of 10.0, making it well suited to performance-oriented XC and gravel riding.
Dual BOA Fit & SlipNot Traction
Two independent BOA L6-Snap dials provide micro-adjustable fit control, complemented by a Velcro forefoot closure.
The SlipNot rubber outsole provides full tread coverage for traction away from the bike, while removable toe studs offer additional grip when conditions become loose or muddy.
XPEL Mesh helps shed water and dry quickly during wet or mixed-condition rides.
The standard 2-bolt cleat pattern is compatible with major mountain bike pedal systems.
Approximate weight: 355g per shoe, size 42.
Are Specialized Recon 3.0 shoes suitable for gravel riding?
Yes. The Recon 3.0 is designed for both XC mountain biking and gravel, combining a stiff pedaling platform with off-bike flexibility and full rubber tread.
