Cody’s Go-To Calls
Clearwater Maniac Elk ReedMedium volume with a deeper, nasal tone — designed for realism. This reed shines when mimicking the emotion of real elk, from subtle cow sounds to convincing bull vocalizations that pull responses from pressured animals.
Clearwater North Fork Elk ReedThe do-it-all workhorse. Higher volume, tight stretch, and full-range capability — built for callers who want power, precision, and versatility in one reed.
Why This System Works
Elk calling isn’t about one sound — it’s about matching emotion, tone, and intensity in real time. This setup gives you the ability to:

Shift from soft, realistic cow talk to aggressive challenge bugles
Maintain control under pressure
Sound like multiple elk, not just one caller
Adapt to terrain, distance, and bull behavior

It’s the same approach used at the highest level of elk calling — and in the mountains where it actually counts.
The Story Behind the ArchAngel
Some calls are built to perform. Others carry something with them.
The ArchAngel bugle tube was created to honor a close friend — one of the best elk hunters I’ve ever known — who passed away in 2021. He was known for bugling loud, hunting hard, and bringing unmatched energy into the mountains.
During his final season, he used a Slayer prototype to call in a bull — a moment that cemented what this call needed to become.
The ArchAngel was built in his memory. A call meant to be used — not just carried.
And now, it’s part of the same system trusted by a world champion.
From the Stage to the Mountains
Cody McCarthy doesn’t just win on stage — he produces in the field.
Every call in this system has been tested, refined, and trusted in real elk encounters. When a bull hangs up, circles downwind, or demands more realism — this is the setup that gets it done.
