Morris MD-515 Japanese Acoustic (1970s)｜ Other Products

Stunning Japanese acoustic dating from the 70s or early 80s. Morris guitars are based on classic American models from Martin and Gibson and this is their take on the Martin D-15. It's had a full set-up by Dean Rowbotham at Bedford Guitars and is playing beautifully. It sounds superb with a full rich tone and plenty of sustain.

The build quality and attention to detail is very good indeed - Japanese guitars from this era can be superb and outclass their American counterparts. Tonally this one's all you'd hope for from a good vintage acoustic with quality woods that have had several decades to mature. Featuring Andean Rosewood back and sides, Spruce top and a Rosewood fretboard, this guitar quietly whispers 'quality'. The detailing is very well-executed with fine mother of pearl bands around the top edge and sound hole. This guitar offers a lot of bang for your buck - give me a well-made vintage acoustic over a new guitar at a similar price point any day.
Condition Report:
Head is in very good condition with only a couple of very small dings. Neck condition is excellent, with just one small impression on the back. Body shows signs of wear commensurate with age - plenty of minor dings and scratches to the front and back but nothing major. There are a few more apparent scratches on the underside of the body shown in the photos. Metal parts of the guitar show a bit of oxidation but nothing too significant. Overall it presents very well and looks as a good vintage guitar should.
