Furniture ｜4 Drawer Console Table From Shanxi - 19th Century

This elegant 19th century elm console table from Shanxi Province embodies the understated refinement of traditional Chinese furniture. Crafted with clean lines and balanced proportions, it features four drawers fitted with original metal ring pulls, offering both symmetry and practical storage. The softly worn surface has developed a rich, natural patina over time, highlighting the character and grain of the elm wood.
Historically, tables of this type were placed in reception areas to welcome guests, often accompanied by chairs on either side. Today, its compact form makes it ideal as a hallway console, side table, or even a small desk, bringing a sense of quiet sophistication and history into contemporary interiors.
