Rare Character Single Barrel Rye Whiskey is exactly what has made Rare Character the most talked-about independent bottler in American whiskey: one barrel, chosen by co-founder Pablo Moix, bottled uncut and unfiltered at its natural strength. This barrel was distilled on December 18, 2015 and bottled in August 2024 at eight years and eight months old, coming out of the cask at a formidable 137.48 proof.Rare Character, founded in 2021 by Moix and Peter Nevenglosky, sources ultra-aged and unusual barrels from Indiana and Kentucky through distilleries, brokers and personal relationships, and every single barrel gets its own custom label artwork and a colored wax top that signals the flavor profile. Moix looks for barrels with real personality rather than a house style, which is why collectors chase these bottles and secondary prices routinely run several times retail. At nearly 138 proof and almost nine years old, this is a rye for slow sipping with a few drops of water: expect deep caramel, dark fruit, baking spice and a finish that goes on for minutes. Once this barrel is gone, it is gone.Buy Rare Character Single Barrel Rye Whiskey online with fast shipping right to your door.
