Vicario Quintessence is a liqueur steeped in ancient philosophy — and one of the most intellectually and sensorially ambitious bottles in the entire Vicario lineup. The word "Quintessence" became synonymous with elixirs, medicinal alchemy, and the philosopher's stone itself — in ancient and medieval science, the fifth essence was the pure essence that the gods breathed, moving in circles through the celestial regions and heavenly bodies. Renato Vicario took that mythology seriously. A more challenging and ultimately rewarding amaro, Vicario Quintessence is a bold herbal liqueur crafted using herbs and spices from around the world, whose deeply complex characteristics invoke divine satisfaction. The nose brings baking spices and a root-like earthiness, almost dirt-like with hints of licorice, while the spirits are crafted using sustainably grown, non-GMO, wheat-based ingredients with certified organic evaporated cane juice, ensuring the complexity comes entirely from genuine botanical sources. Drink it neat after dinner, hot with a piece of lemon peel, or refreshingly over sparkling mineral water on ice in summer. A 2016 San Francisco Spirits Competition Bronze Medal winner — and a bottle that rewards the curious and the patient in equal measure.
